3 reasons why you should hire a wedding planner

The reason I became a wedding planner was because I’ve seen too many brides getting stressed out in the run up to their wedding, not having the wedding they truly desired and not really enjoying the day because they felt completely overwhelmed and anxious.

Planning a wedding can become a second job on top of all the commitments you already have with work, running a business, going to the gym, life-min and still have time to see your friends and loved ones. Life is already stressful so it’s not surprising that the thought of planning one of the most important days of your life can be a little daunting.

I get it, hiring a wedding planner can seem like an added expense that you can do without, below I explore 3 reasons why you shouldn’t rule out hiring a wedding planner.

1. Saving you money

Yes, you heard right. A wedding planner can actually save you money. A good wedding planner will have strong negotiation skills and therefore be able to negotiate good deals on your behalf with suppliers. They can also ensure you have allocated enough fo your budget to each supplier and be able to track the budget throughout the planning process. A wedding planner can also offer your creative solutions or alternative options which are more aligned with your budget.

I briefly covered this in the introduction paragraph, but I generally find that people still aren’t 100% sure what a wedding planner does. We aren’t there to take over your wedding day and make decisions on your behalf. We are simply there to make your life easier. We will spend time gathering quotes from suppliers, helping source suppliers on your behalf, answering emails and telephone calls, and dealing with any problems that might crop up along the way. We can also help organise the RSVPs from your guests. And we’ll always keep you updated along the way.

They can free you up to spend time focussing on your loved ones, rather than logistics.

3. Reduce stress and provide peace of mind

Hiring a wedding planner will give you peace of mind that you have an expert at the end of the phone who you can call when you have a slight panic that you’ve missed something. We can provide guidance along the way.

The closer to the wedding date we get, the more intense the planning is in terms of confirming suppliers and logistics for the day. A wedding planner will create a full schedule for all the suppliers, as well as the wedding party with contact details and a list of timings for the day to ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible. We will also be there on the day to ensure the venue is set up exactly how you envisaged, deal with suppliers and finalising any last minute details.

Knowing that a wedding planner has everything under control can leave you to concentrate on some self-care so you look your best and are in the right frame of mind for your wedding day. This is especially important if you are getting married away from home. You’ll be there to greet your family and friends instead of running around speaking to suppliers and finalising last minute details.
